What is the Defence Cyber Certification
The Defence Cyber Certification (DCC) is a comprehensive, cyber security certification framework for UK defence suppliers. Developed by the UK Ministry of Defence (MOD) and IASME, the certification is part of the broader initiative to enhance the cyber resilience of the UK’s defence sector supply chain.The DCC is a way to provide MOD assurance without having to fill in the Security Assurance Questionnaires (SAQs) for every contract. The DCC is subject to annual attestation and re-certification every three years.
The Four levels of the Defence Cyber Certification
Level Zero
Level 0 of the DCC requires the organisation to have Cyber Essentials Basic, along with 2 other controls. The Applicant Guide can be found here.
Level One
Level One | Level 0 of the DCC requires the organisation to have Cyber Essentials Basic along with 100 other controls. The Applicant Guide can be found here
Level Two
Level Two Level 2 of the DCC requires the organisation to have Cyber Essentials Plus along with 138 other controls. The Applicant Guide can be found here

The MOD and IASME created an assessment and certification against the DefStan 05-138 i4.

Applicants may still tender for MOD contracts via the normal MOD process, DCC is not mandatory at this stage however this is likely where MOD contracts will be moving to for pre-requisites.
This certificate will cover all of your contracts to the certified level, streamlining the process by requiring only one assessment to cover multiple contracts, rather than conducting separate assessments for each contract.
